NEW YORK -- Buried under an avalanche of singles, Homer Bailey was not able to extend his strong return from the disabled list. In a 6-4 Reds loss to the Mets on Monday at Citi Field, Bailey was knocked around and didn't get through the fourth inning.
In his 3 1/3 innings, Bailey gave up five earned runs and 11 hits without a walk with two strikeouts. He had a 2.45 ERA in his previous two starts -- including a complete game at Detroit in his previous outing -- since his activation from the DL after he had been out nearly two months with right knee inflammation.
