CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Reds put starter Homer Bailey on the 15-day disabled list on Monday night with a sprained ligament in his right elbow, the same one he had surgery on last September.
Bailey was limited during spring training while he completed his comeback from surgery on the forearm where it attaches to the elbow. He made two starts, throwing 92 pitches in a 5-2 loss at St. Louis and 79 pitches in a 4-2 loss at Milwaukee.
Bailey is 0-1 with a 5.56 ERA. His next scheduled start was Thursday at Atlanta.
The Reds recalled right-hander Carlos Contreras from Triple-A Louisville.
