SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – T.J. Friedl has a knack for debuts.
Last August, the 21-year-old hit two homers in his professional debut and Saturday in his first-ever big-league spring training game, he homered again.
At 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Friedl is known more for making contact and bunting than he is for power, but there he was in the ninth inning of Saturday’s 9-7 loss to the Giants turning on a pitch from Giants reliever George Kontos for a home run to right field at Scottsdale Stadium.
