Reds outfielder prospect Jose Siri set a new Midwest League record with hits in 36 consecutive games with an eighth-inning single in Monday night’s Dayton Dragons game in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Hitless in his first three at-bats of the game, Siri came up to the plate in what looked to be his final at-bat of the game with one out in the eighth inning. After quickly falling behind 0-2 to Tincaps reliever Diomar Lopez, Siri hit a ball through the left side of the infield for a single. He was stranded there with the Dragons trailing 4-1. The Dragons lost 4-3 with Siri on deck to end the game.
