As rosters begin to expand, the Reds recalled right-handed pitcher Ariel Hernandez and selected the contract of infielder Zach Vincej from Triple-A Louisville, the club announced Friday. Cincinnati also announced it released right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla.
Hernandez, the club's No. 24-ranked prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, has allowed nine earned runs in 15 1/3 innings across 10 appearances for the Reds this season. The 25-year-old hurler has struggled with his control at times (10 walks) and with the long ball (five homers allowed), but he has struck out 21 batters in limited action.
