DETROIT (AP) -- Looking to bolster a short-handed bullpen, the Cincinnati Reds promoted two pitchers from the minors after placing right-hander Jon Moscot on 15-day disabled list and optioning sending Brennan Boesch down to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
Right-handers Donovan Hand and Carlos Contreras were called up from Louisville a day after Moscot lasted only seven pitches before leaving with a dislocated left shoulder in the opener against Detroit. As a result, manager Bryan Price was forced to run through his bullpen in a 6-0 loss.
To make room for Hand on the 40-man roster, the Reds moved Zack Cozart (knee) to the 60-day DL.
