A rough season for Cincinnati Reds pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez took a turn for the worse last week.
Gutierrez, who was recovering from a strained ligament in his right elbow, had a setback after he threw in a live batting practice session last Tuesday. He’s scheduled to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery this month.

The rehab timeline from Tommy John surgery is typically around 12 months, so Gutierrez will miss the remainder of the 2022 season and likely the first half of the 2023 season.
