Just like most teams right now, the Reds’ appear content with their offseason thus-far, and are likely set to begin prepping for the long season ahead. When recently asked about the Reds’ remaining offseason plans, President of Baseball Operations, Walt Jocketty, said the team was “most likely” finished. In what is not a surprising announcement after the team lost out on acquiring the services of veteran starter Bronson Arroyo, it’s at least a disappointing statement. That would seem to indicate there will be no veteran starting pitcher to compete in camp with all the young guns in the Reds’ rotation, and more notably, seem to suggest that Brandon Phillips and Jay Bruce will be staying put.
