Reds notes: Why Nick Senzel is playing more third base; Michael Feliz added to 26-man roster

When the Cincinnati Reds placed first baseman Joey Votto on the injured list on May 5, manager David Bell tweaked the lineup and moved Mike Moustakas to first base.

Less than two weeks later, with Moustakas coming back from a heel injury, the starting infield shifted again. With Kyle Farmer playing first base recently and Eugenio Suárez moving to shortstop, Nick Senzel has made his first two career starts at third base over the last two games.

Senzel mostly played third base in the Minor Leagues, and he has returned to that position during Moustakas’ absence.

“Obviously missing (Votto) and missing (Moustakas) is tough to overcome, but one of the benefits has been (Senzel) getting time at second base and (Senzel) now getting time at third base,” manager David Bell said.
