CHICAGO – When Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Tony Santillan went on the 15-day injured list on June 17 with lower back pain, he said his goal was to miss the minimum amount of time.
Now two weeks later, as the Reds’ bullpen goes through one of its worst stretches of the season, Santillan hasn’t made enough progress to be nearing a return.
“He was pretty sore the last time I saw him before we left on the road trip,” Reds manager David Bell said. “He’s letting it heal, not doing a whole lot.”
