Over the last four times Cincinnati Reds right fielder Nick Castellanos has been hit by a pitch, Reds first baseman Joey Votto has responded with a home run.
All season, Reds manager David Bell has valued consistency in the starting lineup. For most of the year, left fielder Jesse Winker has hit second, Castellanos has hit third, Votto has hit fourth.
Initially, when Winker went on the 10-day injured list, Castellanos moved up to the second spot in the lineup. In the next two games, Votto hit second. But then left fielder Tyler Naquin got into a rhythm at the plate, which allowed Castellanos and Votto to stay in their normal spots in the lineup.
