LOS ANGELES — It turns out maybe Scooter Gennett’s sore right shoulder was affecting more than his throwing.
Gennett went into Saturday’s Reds game with the Dodgers on a five-game hitting streak (11-for-21, three doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI) and had homered in a career-high four straight games.
The hot streak began just after Gennett missed four starts to give the shoulder rest from the throwing. But the time off helped his hitting as well.
“The biggest thing was how I was missing pitches in the strike zone,” Gennett said. “I hadn’t done that my whole life.
