SAN DIEGO – Nobody wants Nick Senzel to play a full healthy season more than Nick Senzel, but there was no avoiding a five-game absence because of the stomach flu.
“It knocked me on my (butt),” Senzel said. “I didn’t do much for four days, five days.”
Senzel was out of the lineup Wednesday because manager David Bell wanted to rest his legs before a West Coast road trip, but when Senzel woke up Thursday in Los Angeles, he was too sick to even show up at the ballpark.
He participated in some pregame activities Friday, but he was sent back to the hotel when he became ill.
