When Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell wrote out the lineup for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, his options were limited.
Outfielder Jake Fraley, one of the best left-handed hitters on the active roster and a former leadoff hitter, has only been able to take one at-bat over the last six days due to a knee issue. Brandon Drury has been limited to being the designated hitter, and he was out of the starting lineup on Sunday.
The Reds already have 11 players on the Injured List, and the team is missing most of the depth and flexibility that it had entering the season.
