ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Homer Bailey will throw a bullpen in Louisville on Wednesday in what could be the final box he has to check off before returning to the Reds’ rotation.

Bailey threw 91 pitches for Triple-A Louisville on Monday, allowing two runs on seven hits over 5 u2154 innings. In three rehab starts, he’s pitched 16 innings and allowed two runs. He’s struck out 17 and walked three. The Reds currently have two open spots in their rotation.

“We should have a better idea of the possibility, the probability of him pitching in the Nationals series,” Reds manager Bryan Price said before Tuesday’s game against the Rays.
