GOODYEAR, Arizona –– The first time Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell saw infielder Dee Strange-Gordon, they both were in Double-A more than a decade ago.
Since then, Strange-Gordon became one of the best infield prospects in baseball, was an MLB starter for nine seasons and then had his All-Star level production fall off due to injuries.
Strange-Gordon, 32, entered 2021 spring training with the Reds on a minor league contract. After making an early impression in camp, he remains in the mix to play shortstop this season.
“He looks the same as he always has,” Bell said.
