GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Reds manager David Bell plans to be a hands-on manager – as much as his right shoulder allows. That will include throwing batting practice, hitting fungos and working with fielders.
“I love doing that,” Bell said. “Just getting out there, it’s another way to connect.”
But there is the shoulder factor. Bell hurt his shoulder during infield drills during his last year coaching in St. Louis. He rested the shoulder last year while working in the front office for the San Francisco Giants.
How bad is it?
“I don’t know yet,” he said.
