Last June the Cincinnati Reds selected right-handed pitcher Lyon Richardson with their 2nd round pick in the Major League Baseball draft. That was the high point of the 2018 season for the then 18-year-old pitcher. He struggled in his debut, and that may be putting it lightly. He made 11 starts for the teams newest affiliate in Greeneville. Appalachian League hitters touched him up for a 7.14 ERA in 29.0 innings where he allowed 37 hits and walked 16 batters with 24 strikeouts.
This season got out to a much better start, at least from a personal standpoint.
