Reds' Joey Votto still seeks first All-Star Game hit

A hit by any of the Cincinnati Reds' three infield All-Stars in Tuesday night's Midsummer Classic at Nationals Park would be their first, with second baseman Scooter Gennett and third baseman Eugenio Suarez making their first-ever appearances and first baseman and six-time All-Star Joey Votto without a hit in 12 plate appearances.

Suarez did reach base in his first-ever All-Star Game plate appearance, hit by a Charlie Morton pitch with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Votto walked in 2017 to reach base for the first time in an All-Star Game.
