GOODYEAR, Ariz. –– Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo hasn’t missed a scheduled start since 2019. Since his first full big league season in 2018, Castillo is one of four big league pitchers to make 108 starts. Last year, he finished the regular season tied for the MLB lead with 33 starts.
In addition to his changeup, Castillo’s durability is one of his greatest strengths. But entering 2022, Castillo’s availability for the season opener is in question.
Castillo, the Reds 2021 Opening Day starter, may not be ready for the start of the season, according to Reds manager David Bell.
