Reds hit three dingers to back Tanner Roark in 4-1 win over Padres

There was a time when if a Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher eased into the 6th inning and exited with a final tally of just a lone earned run allowed, he would be the automatic trophy-taker in these here recaps. Such is the putrid state of the current Reds offense, though, that any single proof of life is going to get an outsized nod, though, and that’s what we witnessed in the series opener against the San Diego Padres on Thursday night.

In all, it was still a relatively quiet 3-run evening for these Reds, but given how silent their bats have been all season long to this juncture, it’s encouraging as hell to see a few lightning bolts strike in the right spots in a W.
