Reds get 'real relief' and good news after catcher Tyler Stephenson leaves the game

PITTSBURGH –– In the bottom of the third inning on Saturday at PNC Park, Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson left the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after a foul tip that went straight off his facemask.

There was immediate concern as a team trainer and Reds manager David Bell rushed onto the field. Stephenson has suffered three concussions in his career, including one this season, and he left the game after the hit to his facemask.

But after the game, Bell said there was a sense of relief when he heard positive reports on Stephenson.

“The report (Saturday night) is no concussion,” Bell said.
