Reds don't get no-hit in 4-0 loss to Royals in Game 1 – they just get no offense

It's not a good omen when the Reds put Joey Votto in the leadoff spot. Before Wednesday, the last time Votto led off was May 7 of last season. That's the night Mike Fiers no-hit the Reds in Oakland.

Kansas City right-hander Brad Keller no-hit the Reds through five innings in a 4-0 victory in the first game of a doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium. Tucker Barnhart broke up the no-no with a clean single to lead off the sixth.

Doubleheaders are seven-innings in the coronavirus-shortened season. If a pitcher throws seven no-hit innings, it does not count as an official no-hitter.
