The Cincinnati Reds activated right-handed reliever Robert Stephenson from the 10-day injured list this afternoon. To make room for him on the active roster the team designated left-handed reliever Cody Reed for assignment. That move not only opened up a spot on the 28-man roster, but it also cleared a spot on the 40-man roster. That spot isn’t likely to be filled in the short term, as the team will need a spot when Nick Senzel is ready to return. Senzel is currently on the injured list – not to be confused with the 10-day injured list – and as such, does not count towards the 40-man roster until removed from that list.
