ATLANTA –– Cincinnati Reds starter Reiver Sanmartin has a different style than any other pitcher on the Reds staff. While his fastball doesn’t reach the mid-90s, Sanmartin has developed a reputation as a starter whose command and confidence helped him climb up the ranks in the big leagues.
Against the Atlanta Braves on Friday, Sanmartin made his third career big-league start and didn’t have the same control on the mound. He walked five batters in 2 u2153 innings as the Braves beat the Reds, 7-6, in front of a sell-out crowd at Truist Park.
The Reds scored a run in the top of the ninth inning and got the tying run to the plate.
