The Reds claimed right-hander Tyrell Jenkins off waivers from the Rangers on Friday, Texas announced.
Jenkins made his Major League debut for the Braves in 2016, going 2-4 with a 5.88 ERA in 14 appearances, including eight starts. He walked 33 and struck out 26 in 52 innings. He fared better in 17 games (12 starts) at Triple-A, going 9-3 with a 2.47 ERA in 83 2/3 innings.
The 24-year-old had been designated for assignment by the Rangers on Wednesday, two weeks after they acquired him from the Braves along with left-handed pitcher Brady Feigl in a trade for right-hander Luke Jackson.
