The Reds claimed RHP Ryan Mattheus from the Angels today, according to the team.
Mattheus is a 31-year-old right-hander who came up in the Nationals organization, but has spent this year with the Angels. He's had a 2.84 ERA at the Angels' AAA affiliate in Salt Lake, and but has only logged one inning for the big league team so far. He was designated for assignment yesterday.
Mattheus spent parts of the last 4 seasons with the Nationals, with his best year coming in 2012. The Reds will add him to their roster tomorrow, so the speculation begins as far as who will get sent down.
