In February 2019, the Cincinnati Reds pursued a trade for All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto, but didn’t acquire him. Then in November, the Reds were interested in signing All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal, who wound up with the Chicago White Sox on a four-year deal.
Heading into the 2020 season, veteran catcher Tucker Barnhart is still slated to start the most games for Cincinnati behind the plate.
