The Cincinnati Reds have called up outfielder Mark Payton from Triple-A Louisville. He is taking the 26-man roster spot of reliever Cionel Pérez who was optioned down to Triple-A.
Mark Payton has been up with the Reds this season, playing in 10 games and going 1-7 with a walk and a strikeout in that span. He was also up with Cincinnati for eight games last year, doing 3-18 with a double, two walks, and five strikeouts. He’s played in 11 games this year with the Louisville Bats and has hit .283/.353/.413 with four doubles, a triple, five walks, and seven strikeouts in 51 plate appearances.
