Ladies and gentlemen, the Reds will not lose 90 games this year. It is now a mathematical fact.
The Cincinnati Reds slid past the New York Mets thanks to some late hitting by an old Mets’ nemesis and some great Reds pitching. Christian Colon delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth that assured the Reds would break the bad streak of 90-plus loss seasons.
Anthony DeSclafani got the no-decision but he pitched masterfully. Four of his six innings were of the clean 1-2-3 variety as he continued his streak of pitching at least six innings and allowing three hits, or less, to five in a row.
