Reds allow Hamilton to play through struggles

Hamilton entered Sunday's series finale vs. the Cubs hitting .217 with a .258 on-base percentage this season, both of which rank in the bottom 15 of qualifying hitters.

But as Reds manager Bryan Price noted, Hamilton's struggles at the plate have come while he develops his left-handed swing. Just three years ago, Hamilton was a right-handed-hitting shortstop before he converted to a switch-hitting center fielder at Triple-A Louisville.

"I don't think he's going outside the strike zone a lot, doing a lot of chasing," Price said. "He's hitting a lot of balls in the air from the left side.
