The Cincinnati Reds traded catcher Tucker Barnhart to the Detroit Tigers for infield prospect Nick Quintana, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.
Selected by the Reds in the 10th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, Barnhart has played his entire eight-season MLB career with the Reds. A two-time Gold Glove winner who hit .248 with an OPS of .696 in 2,561 plate appearances, with 51 home runs and 261 RBIs, Barnhart has a $7.5 million option for 2022.
