The Cincinnati Reds made another offseason addition to their starting rotation, announcing the acquisitions of pitchers Sonny Gray as well as minor-leaguer Reiver Sanmartin from the New York Yankees on Monday in exchange for minor-league infielder Shed Long and the Reds' 2019 Competitive Balance A draft pick.
In addition, Gray agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension through the 2022 season, with a club option for 2023.
The 29-year-old Gray was 11-9 with a 4.90 ERA and 1.496 WHIP in 30 appearances - including 23 starts - for the Yankees in 2018, allowing 14 home runs in 130 1/3 innings of work.
