Reds rookie starter Michael Lorenzen began the St. Louis fourth inning by allowing Greg Garcia's game-tying homer to center field on a 1-1 pitch. Lorenzen was in trouble when Jon Jay followed with a double to right-center field, but was thrown out at third base trying for a triple on a great relay throw started by Jay Bruce. Two more singles followed but the Reds escaped when Stephen Piscotty lined into a double play at first base.
In a no-decision, Lorenzen finished with two earned runs and 10 hits allowed over five innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
