GOODYEAR, Arizona – Two-and-a-half weeks before spring training started, I took a stab at predicting the Reds' 25-man Opening Day roster. Three weeks into spring training, I’ll take another stab – albeit with no more confidence than I did back in January. That’s because things have become fuzzier.
The signings of José Iglesias and Derek Dietrich make the roster much deeper and final cuts more difficult.
That said, here goes:
Starting 8
Earlier prediction: Joey Votto, Scooter Gennett, José Peraza, Eugenio Suárez, Tucker Barnhart, Yasiel Puig, Scott Schebler, Jesse Winker.
New prediction: I’ve got top prospect Nick Senzel as the frontrunner over Schebler for center field now.
