DETROIT -- The Reds were handed a two-game series sweep by the Tigers after a 7-4 loss on Wednesday at Comerica Park.
Reds starter Sal Romano did not walk a batter in 5 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs and eight hits while striking out three. Tigers starter Mike Fiers pitched two scoreless innings before he exited with a left shin contusion and his bullpen picked him up with zeroes until Cincinnati rallied for four runs in the seventh inning after being in a 6-0 deficit.
Defense loomed large during the defeat for Cincinnati.
