Play about Pete Rose's ban from baseball set to debut at Dayton's Loft Theatre

August 24 marked 29 years since Hit King and former Cincinnati Reds great Pete Rose accepted a permanent place on baseball's ineligible list.

Next week, a play from the Human Race Theatre Company about the Big Red Machine star and former Reds player/manager and Major League Baseball Commissioner Bart Giamatti's decision in 1989 to ban him is set to make its world premiere in Dayton.

Banned from Baseball - written by Patricia O'Hara and directed by Margarett Perry - is scheduled to run Sept. 6-23 at the Loft Theatre.

It’s 1989 and a battle for the soul of Major League Baseball is brewing between Commissioner Bart Giamatti and Pete Rose, the reigning Hit King and manager of the Cincinnati Reds.
