GOODYEAR, Arizona – Throughout the first two weeks of spring training, Cincinnati Reds catchers spent a lot of time working on pitch-framing drills. One of them had a pitching machine set up, another catcher standing in the batter’s box and catching coach J.R. House acting as the umpire.
There is a bigger emphasis on pitch framing for Reds catchers, and House offers a new perspective.
“It can be tracked now. That’s the biggest thing,” House said.
