Phillips considered day to day with turf toe

CINCINNATI -- Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips sat out Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Braves, still hurting with an injury to his left big toe.

The diagnosis for Phillips was turf toe, which is a sprained ligament inside the big toe. He was pulled for a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of Tuesday's 4-3 win over Atlanta after he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts.

"We're trying some different orthotics to stabilize that foot," Reds head trainer Paul Lessard said.

Phillips is considered day to day, according to manager Bryan Price.
