Caleb Cotham was hired as the Philadelphia Phillies' pitching coach, the team announced Friday.
Cotham, 33, was the Reds' assistant pitching coach and director of pitching. He joined their coaching staff in Jan. 2019 as assistant pitching coach, and added the director title after the 2019 season.
Cotham pitched two MLB seasons, making 12 appearances for the New York Yankees - managed then by current Phillies manager Joe Girardi - in 2015, and making 23 appearances for the Reds in 2016.
Last month, former Reds manager Bryan Price - who had two years remaining on his contract as the Phillies' pitching coach - announced his retirement to spend time with his family, a decision Girardi said "shocked" the team.
