GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Patrick Kivlehan played baseball his senior year of college in part because he wanted to put off finding a real job.
A football player at Rutgers, Kivlehan hadn’t played baseball since high school before playing at Rutgers in his final semester of college. But on Opening Day at Great American Ball Park on Monday, he’ll be announced alongside Joey Votto, Adam Duvall, Billy Hamilton and the rest of the Cincinnati Reds.
“I didn't have any big league aspirations. I honestly just missed the game and wanted to play one more year,” Kivlehan said of returning to the game.
