ST. LOUIS – When center fielder Billy Hamilton has sat, Reds manager Bryan Price has usually moved Scott Schebler into center and used a bench player in right. But Monday, Price kept Schebler in right and gave Patrick Kivlehan his first major-league look in center. He even sat Hamilton for the expressed purpose of seeing what Kivlehan can do.
Kivlehan has only made 12 professional appearances in center, all coming in Triple-A in 2015.
“The athleticism shows up,” Price said. “It showed up in spring training, it shows up when he plays any of the corner or outfield spots.
