In some ways, it was the same Joey Votto that all Cincinnati Reds fans have seen throughout his career. He drilled a go-ahead, two-run homer in the sixth inning Monday to carry the Reds to a 3-2 win over Cleveland.
It was Votto’s 287th career homer, tying him for third on the Reds’ all-time list with Tony Pérez. He passed Dave Concepción to move to sixth on the franchise’s all-time RBI list, now up to 951.
“He’s one of the best hitters of all-time,” Reds manager David Bell said. “That’s pretty amazing to be able to say that.
