WASHINGTON – Look at Nick Lodolo’s pitching line in the box score and there was plenty to celebrate. He matched a season-high seven innings pitched while permitting three runs.
It went down as a quality start and another step forward for the 24-year-old rookie, but the way his start unfolded left some disappointment.
Lodolo pitched into his own jam and coughed up a two-run lead in the Cincinnati Reds’ 3-2 loss to the Washington Nationals on Sunday. The Reds dropped their season series against the team with the worst record in the Majors, losing four of their seven games against them.
