SAN FRANCISCO -- Reds starter Tim Adleman was visited by head athletic trainer Steve Baumann on the mound after yielding two runs in the first inning to the Giants on Sunday. He finished out the frame, but was replaced by reliever Barrett Astin to start the second. The Reds reported he left with tightness in his neck.
Adleman motioned to his left upper shoulder and neck area in an animated discussion with Baumann and manager Bryan Price after he walked Brandon Crawford. Adleman at the time had gotten just one out, allowing a pair of runs on two hits, a walk and an error.
