WASHINGTON -- It appears that Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips could be close to becoming a member of the Nationals.
According to FOXSports.com, a deal between the Nationals and Reds "apparently is in place" that would send Phillips to Washington. But in order for any deal to get done, Phillips must approve the trade. As a "10 and 5" player with 10 years of Major League service time, including the past five with his current team, he has the right to block any trade.
Neither club has confirmed a deal.
