There is one certainty when the Major League Baseball season begins after its likely long hiatus because of the novel coronavirus pandemic: Teams want to play as many games as possible.
How the league makes that happen is, well, anyone’s guess. All options seem to be on the table. Weekly doubleheaders? Playing the regular season in October and moving the postseason to November? A modified postseason format?
Starting the season in June is probably a best-case scenario after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended no events with 50 or more people for the next eight weeks.
