After about one month of negotiating details for a shortened 2020 season, Major League Baseball and the Players Association aren’t much closer now than when they started.
Talks appeared to end Saturday evening when union chief Tony Clark released a statement that any further dialogue would be “futile.” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred can implement a season of any length with players receiving their full prorated salaries, so that will likely be the next step.
