Bases loaded, nobody out in the fifth inning of a two-run game. Chances don’t get much bigger than that.
The Reds got nothing out of just such an opportunity Sunday in a 3-1 loss the St. Louis Cardinals before a crowd of 28,763 on a hot day at Great American Ball Park.
"You get into that situation, and it's a competition," Reds manager David Bell said. "The Cardinals won the competition today in that situation. It turns out that was the difference in the game."
Thus the Reds’ slow fade continues.
