CINCINNATI -- Sean Marshall could pitch in a Major League game this summer. When Marshall considers where he was a week ago, that statement becomes pretty significant.
"It's mind-boggling, really," Cincinnati's 32-year-old left-handed reliever said Monday. "I can start throwing again in six weeks. A couple weeks ago, the best-case scenario was that I might be playing catch in six months."
Marshall was scheduled to have season-ending surgery last Wednesday to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder. However, when New York Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek performed the procedure, he instead found only significant scar tissue from Marshall's June 2014 surgery to repair a torn labrum.
